Proofers & Scopers
We are always looking for talented, highly motivated individuals to join our group of independent contractors.
Scopers vet the court-reporters’ unedited transcript against a backup audio recording to make corrections to misheard words, missing words, punctuation, and style to ensure nothing is missing from the final transcript.
Proofers provide the final step in quality control to ensure that the transcript is accurate and properly punctuated with reference to Charest Legal Solutions style guidelines.
Requirements:
- Excellent understanding of punctuation, grammar, and spelling
- Background experience of at least two years in the legal industry and/or
English degree and extensive editing experience and/or completion of an editing program - Minimum time commitment of 20 hours per week
A proofing test will be given to those interested in scoping or proofing to assess suitability for either position.
Contractors will be required to purchase editing software which will cost approximately $2,000 Canadian.
